As of mid - 2000 AD, there were 1152 events for South America with 543 in Brazil, followed by Argentina (278), Venezuela(102), Chile (97), Peru (59), and Uruguay (28). Other nations each hadless than 20 listings. The busiest UFO year in S. America was 1968 with 135 events .. 50 of these in July alone. Reports from That month came mainly from central Argentina, central Chile and the southern coasts of Brazil. 15 other countries in South and Central America provided no reports at all in July of 1968. Other busy years in South America were1969 (82 cases), 1965 (71), 1992 (56) and 1967 (55). The tiny busy island at the far North is Puerto Rico, technically part of the USA. At the opposite extreme, scientific stations in the Palmer Peninsula of Antarctica also contributed some well known reports.
