In Australia, the busiest years were 1954 (40), 1978 (44) and 1996 (40). Most 1996 reports came via the internet. The 1954 flap came in January, fully nine months before the French deluge. In New Zealand, the peak years were 1957(21), 1969 (12), 1977 (10) and 1978 (11). No doubt local sources could provide several times these small numbers. For both countries combined, the busiest month was May (88), busiest weekdays were Friday Saturday and Sunday. The busiest hour was from 2100 - 2200 hrs local time.
