This map shows various areas of interest. There are 307 sightings for the "Asian Mainland", 229 of those in China. Another 203 listings for the "Asia Pacific" region include 117 in Japan. For the "mainland" data here, the busiest years were 1980 ( 36 listings ), 1981 (31) and 1979 (24). There were also 22 events in 1952, but beware the statistics of small numbers! Busiest months were July (40), Sept (40), Oct (36) and Aug (31). The slowest month was May with only 5 listings. The busiest weekdays were Thursday (47), Friday (41) and Saturday (35). Sunday was slowest (24). For Asia Pacific data, busiest years were 1952 (22), 1957 (16) and 1979 (11). Busiest months were March (22) and July (20). The slowest months were Jan, Febr and Sept with 11 or 12 events each. The busiest week days were Sunday (35) and Monday (31). The slowest day was Saturday(14). Compare this to the Mainland. Note the apparent alignment in unrelated sightings from the Central Philippine Sea, North-East to Southern Alaska. Each of those listings had a different year and source.
