 Plato
The philosopher Plato wrote of enormous subterranean "tunnels both broad and narrow" that made up the earth's interior. Plato states in Phædo Paras. 600–624 that "There is a chasm which is the vastest of them all, and pierces right through the whole earth". (Then again, Plato also believed in extramission, the theory that rays of light extend out from our eyes.)
Hopi Indians
The Hopi Indians have legends telling how and where to enter the Hollow Earth. They are said to believe that ours is the Fourth World and three others are inside the earth. Bruce A. Walton, in A Guide to the Inner Earth (1983), writes of a hole called Sipapu which is the entrance to the Hopi underground. “It is a sacred place of pilgrimage for the Hopi, at the bottom of the Canyon of the Little Colorado above it’s junction with the Colorado River.” (Page 66).
Dr. Edmond Halley
.Dr. Edmond Halley, of comet fame, believed that all heavenly bodies were hollow and in a speech before the members of the Royal Society of London stated "Beneath the crust of the Earth, which is 500 feet thick, is a hollow void". 4 Halley "suggested that the interior of the Earth was populated with life and lit by a luminous atmosphere. He thought the aurora borealis, or northern lights, was caused by the escape of this gas through a thin crust at the poles." 12 Could the earth's aurora be sunlight escaping from our inner sun? Leonard Euler
Leonard Euler (1707-1783), noted mathematician and one of the founders of higher mathematics. He stated that "mathematically the Earth has to be hollow". He also believed there was a center sun inside the Earth's interior, which provided daylight to a splendid subterranean civilization.
John Cleves Symmes
On April 10, 1818, John Cleves Symmes, Jr. published a pamphlet and sent it to every college and scholar in America. He stated his belief that the earth was hollow and habitable within.
"I pledge my life in support of this truth, and am ready to explore the hollow, if the world will support and aid me in the undertaking."
"I ask one hundred brave companions, well equipped, to start from Siberia in the fall season, with Reindeer and slays, on the ice of the frozen sea: I engage we find warm and rich land, stocked with thrifty vegetables and animals if not men, on reaching one degree northward of latitude 62; we will return in the succeeding spring."
Symmes, an American soldier in the War of 1812, toured the country selling his idea. James McBride, an Ohio millionaire, helped him submit a proposal to congress for a US government funded expedition (to be led by Symmes) into the earth's interior. The proposal was submitted in 1823 and was voted down 56 to 46. A year later, in 1824, a rich doctor financed an unsuccessful expedition to the South Pole to find the Symmes Hole. Symmes died in 1829.
Jules Verne
Jules Verne wrote Journey to the Center of the Earth in 1864. In the book, Professor Lidenbrock and his nephew Axel travel across Iceland. Through an extinct crater they journey down toward a sunless sea where they enter a living past and locate the origins of man ( You can read the entire book on line at no charge here )
Edward Bulwer-Lytton
Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1871 published a novel called "The Coming Race". In the earth, an adventurer encounters intelligent beings with wings. You can read it here.
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a whole cycle of novels set in the hollow earth. He is known chiefly as the creator of the character of Tarzan, who first appeared in Tarzan of the Apes (1914). You can read "At the Earth's Core" and other novels by Burroughs here.
William Reed
William Reed published a book called Phantom of the Poles in 1906 in which he stated, "I am able to prove my theory that the earth is not only hollow, but suitable in its interior to sustain human life with as little discomfort as on its exterior, and can be made accessible to mankind with one-fourth the outlay of money, time and life that it costs to build the subway in New York City. The number of people who can settle in this new world (if not already occupied) will be billions."
Marshall B. Gardner
Marshall B. Gardner in 1920 enthusiastically adopted Symmes' idea of openings at the poles. He claimed the interior of the earth was lighted by a small sun about six hundred miles in diameter.
 Unfortunately for Gardner, in 1926, Admiral Richard E. Byrd made his first flight over the North Pole, and in 1929 he performed the same feat at the South Pole. "As history records, Admiral Byrd did not find any gaping holes. Since the holes were supposed to be over one thousand miles in diameter, they would have been pretty hard to overlook." 3

Then again, perhaps the US Navy Admiral did find something. According to projectparanormal.com, "On February 19, 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd left Base Camp Artic and flew northward." The site claims that when Byrd returned to Washington, on March 11, 1947, he was interviewed by top security forces and a medical team and was then ordered to remain silent."

Ernst Zundel
."Ernst Zundel, wrote a book entitled UFOs - Nazi Secret Weapons? claiming that Hitler and his last battalion had boarded submarines at the end of the war, escaped to Argentina, and then established a base for flying saucers in the hole leading to the inside of the Earth at the South Pole. Zundel also suggested that the Nazis had originated as a separate race that had come from the inner-earth." 4

Subject: THE HOLLOW EARTH/ADMIRAL RICHARD BYRD!
Dear sir,
I'm 50 years old and have studied the hollow earth theory since about 1974. I know the book very well; the author being Raymond Bernard, and the actual expedition and material put together by admiral richard e. Byrd. I'm also mormon with a background in special forces, seabees, u.s. Navy. The navy maintains the antartic dept which guards the opening to that particular region. In my many years in the navy, i've met four captains, one lieutenant, one warrant officer and one retired green beret who have all seen the opening personally. They have all told their particular story to me. The reason i am writing you this e-mail is to let you know that there are many people out there that know of the hollow earth and that admiral byrd is the true explorer of both of the openings to the interior of the earth. I thought it peculiar coming across your internet site and talking about the hollow earth that you not once mentioned admiral byrd. I personally met his daughter in law, the wife of the younger admiral byrd. I was also given a copy of one of the original manuscripts. It's great that you're promoting the church through the book of Mormon and it's ties with the lost 10 tribes. In closing, it is only a suggestion that the man who actually discovered the hollow earth should be given his just due and be recognized for his great discovery!

The email address no longer seems to be working. No reply. Unfortunately, without validation this is no more than a wild story. Is Ourhollowearth.com (the source of the above story) selling anything? Possibly. They have an expedition to search for the hollow earth. I'm waiting to hear how much it costs.
Colonel Billie Woodard
.A web page on onelight.com states, "My name is Colonel Billie Woodard of the United States Air Force. I was first stationed at Area 51, Nevada, Jan.28,1971 through 1982. In that period of service I visited the Hollow Interior of the Earth six times, 800 miles deep." Objectively, what are some possibilities? 1. This person is just a creative writer having some fun. 2. This was written to get people interested in the site or in some product. 3. The person is a nut who really believes this but is wrong. 4. Some group annoyed by too much secrecy is spreading disinformation to get people mad. 5. Our own military is spreading nutty stuff so any and all claims about "Area 51" will be ignored by rational people. 6. It is true.
