2/19/2005 Politics. (yahoo) US Valedictorian Charged in Alleged Plot to Assassinate President Bush. "More than 100 supporters of Abu Ali crowded the courtroom Tuesday and laughed when the charge was read aloud alleging that he conspired to assassinate Bush. ... "He was tortured," Nubani (his attorney) told the court. "He has the evidence on his back. He was whipped. He was handcuffed for days at a time." The alleged Bush plot occurred while he was studying in ( Saudi Arabia).

I'm surprised that this is the first mention of an attempt to assassinate Bush. After all, like him or hate him, you have to admit that he must be the most controversial president we've ever had.

2/20/2005 Politics (cbcca | guardian) Anti-Bush Writer Suicided.

Hunter S. Thompson, 68, was the model for the character "Duke" in Garry Trudeau's comic strip Doonesbury. His most recent book was Hey Rube: Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and the Downward Spiral of Dumbness (2004). ... Mike Cleverly, a longtime friend, spent Friday night watching a basketball game on TV with Thompson. He said Thompson was clearly hobbled by the broken leg. "Medically speaking, he's had a rotten year," he said. But he added: "He's the last person in the world I would have expected to kill himself. I would have been less surprised if he had shot me."

Thompson was found dead in his home Sunday night from a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted, the local Sheriff, Bob Braudis, an old friend of Thompson's said an autopsy was planned. Police said the investigation was continuing but declined to elaborate." Read the blog buzz. More here.

Bruce Charles, 52. He has been charged with disorderly conduct.

The San Franciso paper choose a rather interesting photo (right) of Perle to run. Oh baby. Hehe. Perle, according to Sy Hersh, was managing partner at Trireme Partners, at the same time he was advocating a war on Iraq. (source: msn) Thus, Perle was engaged in a business that could financially benefit from the war he promoted. This is known as war profiteering, and if true, would make Perle a criminal. Perle, in exchange, called Hersh " the closest thing American journalism has to a terrorist, frankly. ... Because he's widely irresponsible. If you read the article, it's first of all, impossible to find any consistent theme in it. But the suggestion that my views are somehow related for the potential for investments in homeland defense is complete nonsense." (source: leftcost) There you have it, a new clear definition of terrorists: inconsistent and irresponsible themeless journalists.
