The photos of signs below were taken over the course of about an hour. (Also try our VIDEO ~ 3.0 MB . MOV file. Right click and Save As...) The signs are presented with no weeding whatsoever. As such, this is a fairly objective sample of what people really had to say at this historic event. According to the Sacramento Bee, Jan 19, 2003, San Franciso police set the number at 50,000 while the organizers estimated 200,000. Arial photos of the crowd here show the true size of the protest. A SF police spokesperson revised the number from 50,000 to 150,000 as a safe estimate with 200,000 possible according to the Jan 21st San Francisco Chronicle. We encourage you to understand all sides of the debate regarding a US war with Iraq.
