Trip to Maui

Pics from my birthday getaway to the warm and beautiful island of Maui.
MISSION: Find the sun and bring it back home to Sacramento.
Still a bit sick from the flu, but ready to go!
This year ATA airlines started flying direct SFO to Maui
It is another world up here, really.
Due to the winds, a 5 hour flight. Land sighted!
And what a land it was...
Green and warm, unlike my frosty home.
Clouds were starting to clear when we landed.

Rent Car, Find Hotel. Outrigger Royal Kahana
So tropical
Room with fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer, etc.

Tired from the trip, but glad to be here!
Watch the sun set from your room.
Found the sun and amazing sweet clean air.
Trip to store. Buy food to save money. Find strange fruit.
Next day, adventure number one... take boat to...
your waiting submarine!
On board the Atlantis
Plenty of portholes for everyone
Prepare to identify fish. Dive! Dive!
A whale attacks the sub! No, probably not a whale.
This sub will dive 150 feet to the ocean floor
Strange colors due to the sea filtering light
But you can still see some color in the fish
Especially when they turn on the sub's external lights
45 minutes under, then back to the surface and the boat
Boat back to land ... shipwreck sighted along the way
Onboard the Holoka. Or something like that.
Watching Shuffleboard from our room.
Skip ahead a day, whale watching!
Mother and baby sighted. Boat stops. They circle us!
To snorkeling in Molokini volcanic crater for birthday.
Long fun awesome birthday. Above is my cake!
Next day, take rented jeep on new adventure.
Zip lining: flying through tree tops on wires.
Another adventure: Hike in search of beautiful waterfalls
